Brian Switzer has been an active member of the Bay Area music community for over twenty-five years.  At the age of thirteen, he played his first real gig as a member of a professional orchestra pit for a musical at the Fox Theater. While teaching privately for over twenty years, he has helped many students achieve college music scholarships and also led a public middle school jazz band to the NextGen Festival in Monterey several times. In 2012 he accepted a position as the solo trumpet player for the GRAMMY® Award-winning band Train.  Two years, hundreds of performances around the world, and several live TV appearances later, Brian developed and released JazzDeck, an innovative educational resource that has quickly become an international hit among players and teachers of all ages and ability levels. He started the NorCal Jazz Camp in 2007 and enjoys teaching improvisation to large groups of students each summer.

Lessons occur in a beautiful home conveniently located a few blocks away from downtown Burlingame. During your child's music lesson, take advantage of all that Burlingame Avenue has to offer. Parents are always welcome to come inside as the lesson is drawing to a close, to listen in on the music lesson. Students are more engaged during weekly practice when parents know what is expected in terms of home practice.
